Amadou,

OK, I'm on page 97, where you state that Epson offers a free software utility called "ColorBase." So I trot on over to the Epson USA site, since I live here and bought my 3800 here, and look for ColorBase. Searching the site brings up the extraordinary news that ColorBase is one of Epson's registered trademarks - that's it; nothing else; no info, links, etc. I "googled" it and found a link on Rob Galgraith's site to ColorBase 2.0 (added support for the 3800 - perfect, just what I needed) - but, of course, that was a dead link. However, by stripping the link to it's base site, Epson Europe, I was able to find the software buried in amongst the various downloads. After downloading, I went back to the Epson USA site and could find no similar location from which to obtain the program. Apparently Epson and Epson USA doesn't want us to have this software. So, do I install it? Do you think that there's some self-destruct code in my printer driver that will feeze my printer if I use it? smile.gif Reminds me of when the 2000/2100 came out in Europe and included the ABW module. When it got to the US as the 2200, the module was gone. No mention, no download, nothing. Like the internet didn't exist, like magazines from England never reach the US. I finally found the module ... but in French, not where my best language skills lay. Maybe Epson/Seiko still hate the US from WW II? blink.gif

Can you think of any reason not to use European software on an American printer?

Al,
The closest that ColorBase got to those of us in the states was at the Epson Canada site, if I recall. I've used both v1.0 and 2.0 here in Brooklyn with no exploding computers or visits from Epson attorneys wink.gif. You should be fine. BTW it's a software-only fix that interprets data destined for the driver, meaning it doesn't alter the mechanics of your printer like a firmware update might, so in the event you wanted to uninstall ColorBase or sell your printer, the hardware end of things would be untouched.

Thanks for your insights and info; it's tough when you're an international stepchild. rolleyes.gif I also downloaded the supported measurement devices, so it may be time to part with some $$.
