I have been holding off on buying my next printer that I will dedicate to 3rd party mono ink sets. However, as I learn more about the issues with carts and patents, is there a fear that as soon as recent printers are bought up (that do have carts 3rd party vendors can use) there will be a shortage of printers to buy / use?

Specifically, I have been holding off on the Epson 4800 as new products come out all the time. Am I running the risk now since newer models like the 3880 and 4880 will not be supported?
