Hello,
How does this film scanner work with black and white film? I've heard pros and cons.

Silver,
I have an answer for you, based on my experiences. I scanned a film, Ilford FP4+, 125 speed, but I did not use proper settings and my scan was not good - it's all in your settings. You must turn off ICE, which is a grain and scratch enhancer setting. This is even in the scan manual, I found it, after friends also advised me to turn it off. After I did that, I had a scan that was fine and represented my negative image realistically with contrast, blacks, etc., and I printed it with an Epson R3800 printer using "Advanced Black and White" on glossy paper, and it was a gorgeous print. I was very pleased. I used the Nikon Coolscan V ED for the scan. I have it in my gallery at:

I obtain very fine results also with color films, Velvia 50, 100F, Provia 100, etc., scanned and printed on the R3800.

Good luck, Debra
