I'm curious to hear about experiences with Qimage with regard to page layout. Can you set crop marks for images, with borders of your choice? Can each image in the layout have different paper border widths? Are you generally happy with its layout capabilities on 24 and 44 inch wide printers?

I use it but in a limited way. I hav eplayed with the borders, you can have two on an image. I don't recall if you can mix and match the borders on a page. You can specify different profiles for images on a page so if you were to make B&W profiles via Print Fix Pro, you could print B&W and color on the same page. You can set the crop marks. For $50 bucks it saves alot of time over PS to out put and it is far less than any RIPs. The RAW camera support is very minimal but OK if you have a supported camera. I primarily use it on my 4800, so I can't help with 24 or 44 inch question too much. You can save print set ups and recall them very easily so getting through a proofing session goes quickly and the sharpening is nice.

I have used Qimage for quite awhile, but I can't answer your question. I use it to print on an Epson 3800, and have printed multiples of the same file and different files on the same page, but I create my borders and cut marks with a razor knife ;) If you're asking because you've never used it, the GUI can be rather harrowing, but if you stick with it, you'll find what you're looking for. You won't find a better bargin, or a better supported product out there - seems like updates are almost daily. Color management capabilities are good, as is soft proofing. It's print sharpening algorithms are first class.

In looking around the forum, as a rookie, I came across the discussion about PK Sharpener, grayscale/RGB, etc., and it reminded me of another Qimage consideration. Last I checked, Qimage only works on rgb files; it converts grayscale to rgb, on its own. All of my B&W files are currently rgb, for that reason. Something you might want to investigate.
